Function and Objectives

Functions of the Inspectorate:

  • Effective implementation of the provisions of the Boilers Act, 1923 , Indian Boiler Regulations 1950 and Assam Boiler Rules, 1935 and Assam Economizer Rules,1956,Boiler Operation Rules,2011, Boiler Attendant Rules,2011.
  • Providing guidance to boiler user to improve quality and working condition of boilers.
  • Conducting investigation of accidents of boilers and boiler components comes under the boilers Act and subsequently preparation of report/recommendation.
  • Initiate legal proceedings due to violation of Acts and Rules.
  • Searching of unregistered and un-certified boilers as per the provision of the statutory laws.

Objectives:

  • Preventing accident/explosion of boilers and boiler components thereby bringing safety of human lives and properties in and around steam generating units.
  • Effective implementation of all provisions of the Boilers Act, 1923 , Assam Boiler Rules,1935 and the Indian Boiler Regulations,1950.
